How to use a dugout

First of all you store your one hitter pipe in the small side of the dugout and your tobacco in the larger side. To load the one hitter pipe simply press the sharpened end into the tobacco side of the dugout. Then with your wrist, twist the pipe like turning a knob into the dugout. This will cut a measured hit of tobacco into the pipe.

Once you have the pipe loaded, it works like a cigarette. Be aware that the straight pipe can allow hot ashes to come down the pipe into your mouth. They will only burn slightly and will leave a burnt taste in your mouth. This is a symptom of sucking too hard on the pipe. When the hit is almost complete you can easy up on your suction and stop this from happening. It requires some practice but can be mastered rather quickly. The hot ashes provide enough disincentive to learn this craft.
